Nation Pays Tribute to C. Rajagopalachari on His Birth Anniversary at Constitution Hall

A solemn ceremony in New Delhi’s Constitution Hall marked the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna C. Rajagopalachari, with leaders offering floral tributes and reflecting on his legacy as a freedom fighter, statesman and key nation-builder whose ideals continue to inspire India’s democratic journey.

A solemn ceremony was held in the Central Hall of the Constitution Building in New Delhi on Wednesday to honour Bharat Ratna C. Rajagopalachari on his birth anniversary. Senior dignitaries and parliamentary officials gathered to offer floral tributes to the statesman whose influence helped shape India’s early political and administrative foundations.

Rajagopalachari—affectionately known as Rajaji—was remembered as a towering freedom fighter and one of independent India’s foremost nation-builders. Speakers at the event reflected on his pivotal role in the independence movement and his contributions as a scholar, administrator and political thinker during the country’s formative years. They emphasized that his life and moral conviction continue to serve as an enduring source of inspiration for present and future generations.

The commemorative observance, held within the historic Central Hall, underscored Rajagopalachari’s legacy as the last Governor-General of India and a key figure whose leadership helped guide the nation through a period of transition and consolidation after independence. Participants noted that his commitment to democratic values, public service and ethical governance remains significant in contemporary public life.

The ceremony concluded with a renewed acknowledgement of Rajaji’s lasting impact on India’s political ethos, reaffirming his place among the country’s most respected architects of democracy.
